Dear Sharon,
My address is correct for right now, as I am presently transitioning between graduate programs and working near home until the fall semester begins. I will update my address in the database when I move again in September.
On another note, I thought aspects of the tone of this letter were somewhat insensitive to those who have graduated relatively recently and may still be living with their parents. While this does not apply to my personal situation, I have to imagine that there is some portion of the 1,600 who actually have been living with their parents for some time while trying to sort out their way forward, and that, perhaps, it is not an aspect of their lives with which they are entirely comfortable.
I suspect you could easily have been more careful with the wording while still getting across the same message, so that we alumni continue to look favorably on the school as the years pass. You could simply have asked for us to update our address information without intimating anything about our present living situations or providing us with the information about the school’s “wasteful” attempts to contact us. In matters such as these, I think you might be well-served to stick to facts—since we all graduated from Hamilton, I imagine most of us are able to understand the importance of updated address information. I would ask you to consider this for the future.
Thank you,
Scott Flaherty

Remember this? Yeah? Well, above is what I wrote back today. I was going to threaten her by saying I’d withhold my future donations, but I figured my $30 a year isn’t really all that much a threat. So, I decided I’d just be smarmy. (via justfakeit)
wow scott, that was really, really smarmy. well done. also, refer to the recent ilovecharts chart about confidence. i think that applies quite well to this situation.
