stupid crap
last week discovery channel debuted a show about stephen hawking’s various theories about stuff. the premiere was about his thoughts on alien existence, and he said that aliens certainly exist and we should avoid contact with intelligent civilizations at all costs. since then i’ve seen like 5 headlines a day relating to the topic in some way. for example,

is there really nothing better to report on? does a show on discovery channel, which inherently has questionable scientific content, really have created such a stir?
